NORWALK, Conn. – BizBash, the leading trade media for event professionals, has announced its 2014 list of the most innovative people and brands in events and has named Ed Several, Senior Vice President of Reed Exhibitions, The Americas, and General Manager of PGA Worldwide Golf Exhibitions, as one of the top innovators right now. According to BizBash, Several has stood out as an event innovator and groundbreaker-joining an elite group that proves the value of face-to-face events, empowers peers to consider the unconventional, and reveals a redefined image of what the industry is today.
Several oversees 11 major trade shows in the United States and Mexico in six industry sectors. In addition, his teams support ISC Brazil and two PGA-branded golf shows in Beijing and Shenzhen. He came to the trade show industry 10 years ago from the golf industry to lead the revitalization of the PGA Merchandise Show and since then has earned a reputation for building successful events with innovative programming.
During his decade-long tenure with the PGA Shows, Several and his team have added valuable new show platforms for buyers and vendors to connect; multiple PGA Professional and attendee resources to grow their merchandising, teaching and business influence; plus show-based industry resources to help facilitate worldwide growth and interest of the game during golf’s largest annual international business gathering.
“I am proud and humbled to be included with so many deserving innovators in the event industry honored in 2014 by BizBash media,” said PGA Worldwide Golf Exhibitions Senior Vice President and General Manager Ed Several. “The PGA Merchandise Show brought me to Reed 10 years ago and since then I’ve enjoyed growing a diverse portfolio of shows. It is especially gratifying to work side-by-side with a talented PGA Show team and the PGA of America to continue the evolution of the PGA Merchandise Show where new merchandising, product-testing, education and business platforms have resonated with PGA Professionals, vendors and golf industry leaders from around the world.”
“We may be living in a digital age, but live experiences remain one of the most powerful ways to reach and influence an audience. Our Innovation issue is about the event and meeting industry professionals proving how sophisticated and strategic the medium is, whether it’s a 150,000-person conference, a public fan fest that attracts 1.5 million visitors, or a 400-guest wedding,” says BizBash editor in chief Anna Sekula. “Several was willing to take risks and find opportunities to create authentic engagement and value, which is why we decided to highlight him and his work.”
