Scottsdale, AZ- Legacy of the Links, LLC, is pleased to announce that its second annual Top 100 Invitational golf tournament will be held at Pinehurst Resort (Pinehurst No. 2) on May 3-6, 2015, at the same spectacular venue as the 2014 U.S. Men’s Open Championship and the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open Championship.
Thirty, two-person teams will vie for the honor of Legacy of the Link’s Top 100 Invitational Champion. The 36-hole competition will be played on courses No. 2 and No. 4, in a better-ball net format (with a max. handicap of 18 for men and women). Winners of each division will receive a beautiful crystal trophy handcrafted by Tournament Sponsor Tipperary Crystal, now considered Ireland’s premier crystal manufacturer.

Participants in the Top 100 Invitational will play the restored No. 2 course as it was originally envisioned. The design firm of Coore & Crenshaw was secured in 2010 to restore Pinehurst No.2, with focus on natural and strategic elements, in line with the character of the Donald Ross design philosophy. The project involved removal of 35 acres of turf while reintroducing natural bunker edges plus native wire grasses. “We are excited about hosting the 2015 invitational at Pinehurst, especially at a course that boasts some of the finest championships in all of golf,” said Kevin McGrath, Co-founder of Legacy of the Links. According to McGrath, the Top 100 Invitational golf tournament is open to any club or course that has earned a distinction on an official “Top 100” ranking list prior to the May 2015 tournament.
Because “giving back to the game” is important to Legacy of the Links, the Top 100 Invitational will raise funds through an auction for the University of St. Andrews at “The Home of Golf” in Scotland, for the purpose of building a golf museum on the university campus. The Top 100 Invitational charity auction will include such items as golf art and memorabilia as well as golf experiences at top-ranked courses and world-class resorts.
Tournament entry fee is $1,950.00 per person. It includes 3-nights lodging at the Pinehurst Resort (double occupancy), Pairings Party, Welcome Dinner, Top 100 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Awards Banquet, two rounds of golf and tee gifts. (Resort fees, taxes & gratuities included). A single supplement fee of $350.00 will apply. This exclusive event is open to the first 30 teams to register and submit the required $1,000.00 per team deposit. Early entries will benefit from room upgrades offered by Pinehurst Resort.
