Chicagoan is member of Catalyst Golf Performance long drive (LD) team
(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) — Chicagoan Eddie Fernandes will advance to the Finals of the ReMax World Long Drive Competition after outdriving 41 competitors to win the regional competition in Orlando.
Fernandes qualified for the final round with a 325-yard drive and won the shootout with a 289-yard drive, both followed his regional best of 329 yards. All his shots were into head winds of 10 to 25 mph with the regional finals staged after a significant rainfall on the previous night.
“This win is a big step in my quest of becoming the Long Drive champion later this year. “The conditions were very difficult, hitting into fierce head winds and the air was like pea soup — very hot, humid and heavy,” says Fernandes. “The ball was not flying nearly as far as it normally does, putting a premium on hitting it solid.
“I have to give a huge shout out to my Catalyst Golf Performance team whose fitness, golf training and nutrition programs have really propelled me to the next level to win my first of what I hope to be many competitions,” Fernandes says. “I beat the fourth and seventh-ranked players in the world in the final and I know that the sky is the limit. “I have the best team behind me and with the support of Catalyst and Izod clothing and my family, I have the best chance of winning championships for years to come. I also want to thank all my friends who came out to cheer me on to this important win.”
Fernandes is a long-time client of Catalyst and part of its long-distance driving team called Catalyst Golf LD. His training regimen has been featured on WGN-TV Lexus Long Drive and the Chicago Sun-Times. He feels that his golf career, regimen, nutrition and physical conditioning offer him an edge over his competitors, many of whom are much younger than him.
“We are proud to be a part of Eddie’s winning team. His success in the regionals are the result of relentless work ethic, talent and total commitment to our team and the personalized programs designed to help him accomplish his goals,” says Michael Napoleon, Director of Golf Instruction and Managing Partner of Catalyst Golf Performance. “We know this is the first of many wins for Eddie, and we are excited to support him as he advances to the Finals in September.”
