Michael Block, who is the head professional at Arroyo Trubaco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, CA won the PGA Professional National Championship this week. He used a Fujikura Motore Speeder VC 8.1 X shaft in his TaylorMade 3 wood and a Motore Speeder HB 9.8 TS X shaft in his TaylorMade hybrid, allowing him to rake in the $75,000 in prize money, on top of his exemption to 6 PGA tournaments of his choice AND the 2014 PGA Championship!
Just the week before the PGA PNC tournament, Block came to Fujikura HQ in Vista, CA to get fit for these shafts. Marshall Thompson (click here for his Fitter Profile), Technical Services Coordinator and head in-house fitter at Fujikura, got Block set up for victory.
Block won a two hole playoff, finishing with a birdie thanks to a perfectly placed tee shot with his hybrid equipped with a Fujikura shaft. Congratulations, Michael!
In other news, the winner of the Women’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship used a Fujikura Prototype shaft in her 3 wood and a Fujikura Orochi shaft in her hybrid on her way to her 3rd win of 2014.
