The new facility will offer the ultimate in custom-fitting and game optimization.
EDINBURGH, Scotland (July 7, 2014) – Nike Golf, in conjunction with Archerfield Links, today announced the opening of the new Nike Performance Fitting Center at Archerfield in Edinburgh, Scotland, just ahead of the Scottish Open. Nike athlete Rory McIlroy was on hand for the announcement.
The facility – a world first for Nike Golf – will allow consumers from around the globe to experience the very best in golf club fitting, as well as offer them access to Archerfield’s elite coaching panel that includes former Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart and leading European Tour coach Gary Nicol, both members of Nike’s Swoosh Staff.
This facility provides the consumer with a full range of product, technology and fitting experiences, mirroring the service Nike Golf offers its Tour athletes.
“This incredible facility takes club fitting to another level,” said McIlroy. “It’s so impressive that Nike is providing the consumer the same type of service that we get as Nike athletes.”
Golfers can enjoy a range of packages tailored to their needs, including the ultimate three-day stay at the luxury club that will see them embarking on a full club and ball fitting, game-assessment, physical fitness consultation and a playing lesson on either the Fidra or Dirleton Links.
On day one of their stay, consumers will take part in a personal club fitting using the latest technology. On day two, their personalized, custom-built clubs will be delivered to the club in time for their playing lesson. Golfers will then have a distance mapping session, and will be shown how to use the Nike Golf NG360 app which allows players to track their progress on the course, as well as offer tips on game-improvement.
“Today marks a critical step in our journey as we deliver an experience designed to serve the golfer in fitting and performance,” said Cindy Davis, President, Nike Golf. “It’s not enough to simply make great product – we have to serve our consumer with world-class experiences that enable them to unlock their true potential. Our partnership with Archerfield, an authentic site located on Scotland’s Golf Coast, does just that.”
“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Nike Golf on this exciting project. At Archerfield we like to play a different game. We want to create facilities which are above and beyond expectation, which set the benchmark in understated luxury and service,” said Tom Younger, CEO at Archerfield.
In addition to the two stunning courses designed by DJ Russell, the Archerfield Links Estate boasts a 17th century Mansion House with a spa (recently voted in the top-six new spas in Europe), a gym and a range of luxurious accommodations just outside Edinburgh. This facility provides easy access by road, rail and air.
