Claims 10th career European Tour title with ?one-shot victory over fellow staff player Thongchai Jaidee
(Londonderry, NH) – Danish company ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – confirms that Staff Player Graeme McDowell wore its luxurious World Class golf shoes en route to defending his Alstom Open de France title this past weekend at Le Golf National in Paris.
Showcasing the ECCO logo on headwear, G-Mac carded a sterling final-round of 67 in wet, windy conditions. That allowed him to overcome an eight-shot deficit on the 54-hole leader and ultimately sit one stroke clear of the field. In capturing his 10th career European Tour title, McDowell moved to just outside the top 15 on the Official World Golf Ranking.
“I really needed this victory,” said McDowell. “It’s a special one for me. It’s pretty timely. There’s a busy summer ahead and this is a really good kick-start.”
Finishing just behind McDowell was fellow ECCO Staff Player Thongchai Jaidee, who placed T2 while displaying the ECCO logo on his shirt collar and headwear, and wearing Tour Hybrid shoes with patented E-DTS outsole technology.
“Graeme’s clearly in outstanding form heading into the Open Championship and the rest of the season,” says Jesper Thuen, Global Sponsorship, PR & Event Manager – ECCO Golf. “Everything could be lining up quite nicely for him to play well in some big tournaments and once again secure a spot on the European Ryder Cup team.”
Handmade in Portugal by a team of artisans working with the finest materials, the World Class model features a three-material outsole combining water-repellant leather with cushioning PU and wear-resistant TPU. Its classic brogue upper is crafted from leathers of the highest grade that are tanned using an exclusive HYDROMAX™ treatment. This ensures long-lasting suppleness while helping protect a player’s feet against even the harshest weather. World Class also showcases a moisture-wicking Second Skin leather lining and breathable, vegetable-tanned cow leather insoles that enhance circulation.
In addition to McDowell and Jaidee, the ECCO Golf collection is endorsed by scores of Tour stars worldwide, including Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Thomas Bjørn, Marcel Siem, Andreas Hartø, Wu Ashun, Will Wilcox, JB Hansen, Belén Mozo, Caroline Masson and Gerina Piller.
