$2,500 annual scholarships

PISCATAWAY, N.J., July 8, 2014…The New Jersey Golf Foundation (NJGF), the charitable arm of the New Jersey Section, PGA of America (NJPGA), announced the recipients of the prestigious Peter A. Famiano Memorial Scholarship. Junior golfers Nicholas Cappetti of Burlington, N.J., and Jessica Wild of Stockton, N.J., were awarded with the Peter A. Famiano Memorial Scholarship and were honored at the 6th Annual New Jersey Golf Foundation Peter A. Famiano Memorial Pro-Am, which raises money to support the scholarships, on July 7, 2014, at Crestmont Country Club, in West Orange, N.J.

Peter Famiano was the Head Golf Professional at Crestmont Country Club for over 35 years. In honor of Peter, the NJGF created the Peter A. Famiano Memorial Scholarship, which awards worthy New Jersey junior golfers for their professionalism, integrity, volunteerism, and willingness to help others. It is a $2,500 annual scholarship that is open to college students of any class year, provided they continue to meet the standards set forth by the Scholarship Committee. The NJGF Scholarship Committee reviews all applications using the following criteria: scholarship achievement, qualities of character and leadership, financial need, volunteer history and future in golf.

“Both scholarship recipients have been active volunteers within their community, and in conjunction with the New Jersey Golf Foundation and NJPGA special events and programs,” said Chris Hunt, Executive Director, New Jersey Golf Foundation. “Peter Famiano was the consummate professional that always gave back and helped others, so we are thrilled to support the continuing education of these deserving individuals in Peter’s honor.”

Cappetti recently graduated Burlington Township High School and will be attending Campbell University in the fall of 2014 where he plans to pursue his goal of becoming a PGA Professional through the PGA Golf Management University program. Jessica Wild recently graduated Hunterdon Central High School and will be attending the University of Tampa.
