Am Tour members will have access to the wearable device, which is now permitted under the Rules of Golf to track rounds during competition play
ORLANDO, Fla. (July 16, 2014) – Golf Channel Am Tour – the largest amateur golf tour in the world – has named GAME GOLF the official shot tracking system to its membership of avid amateur golfers across North America. The wearable device which tracks and displays rounds of golf through an integrated software platform will provide dedicated product access to Golf Channel Am Tour members, including on-site demos at the Am Tour National Championships, as well as select majors on the Tour’s schedule. GAME GOLF additionally will have featured signage at all Am Tour events.
“GAME GOLF is ‘Permitted under The Rules of Golf,’ and with that distinction, Golf Channel Am Tour members will be able to use our device during competition play,” said John McGuire, CEO GAME GOLF. “We’re looking forward to having a strong presence at all Golf Channel Am Tour events, and seeing members adopt GAME GOLF as a valuable tool for them to better understand their game and scoring tendencies.”
“Game improvement is always a top priority for our members each time they tee it up at Golf Channel Am Tour events,” said Kenny Booth, senior director of events for Golf Channel. “GAME GOLF will allow our members to be able to record and track all aspects of their game, as they try to elevate their play leading up to the Am Tour National Championships in September.”
The 2014 Golf Channel Am Tour season will culminate September 9-18 in Scottsdale, Ariz. with the National Championships, held at Grayhawk Golf Club and Talking Stick Golf Club. For a complete schedule of the 2014 Golf Channel Am Tour season, visit www.gcamtour.com.
Officially released to consumers at the PGA Merchandise Show in January, GAME GOLF captures a player’s round of golf by tapping each club’s individual sensor to a wearable device on the player’s belt before every shot. Vital performance data is synced to the cloud from the device viewable on GAME GOLF’s website (www.gamegolf.com) within a player’s profile or on the player’s mobile device. From there, a player can view a dynamic interface displaying each shot and round data such as club selection, fairways hit, greens in regulation and distance, in addition to other stats and trends important to the player.
