New apparel brand fuses technology with trendsetting designs
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – CHASE54 continues its momentum developing signature technologies with Sorona® by DuPont leading the charge. As a leader in textile and garment production, the new golf fashion brand has created more than 25 garments in-house featuring the Sorona biotechnology.
Rare proportions of Sorona in CHASE54 Garments set them apart from other brands. The company’s blend of Sorona and Spandex features more than 80% of the Sorona polymer. This combination presents a color brilliance and ultra-chic performance quality that “you have to feel to believe,” says Doug Risher, National Sales Director for CHASE54. “The level of Sorona we bring into our garments sets us apart. We can do this because we are a vertical apparel manufacturer controlling all the production steps, avoiding the middleman,” Risher adds.
Sorona is created from corn and features natural stain resistant properties and an extremely soft hand. The strong fabrics dry quickly, while bringing a unique stretch recovery upholding the design integrity of the garment. In addition, Sorona 3GT provides all the advantages generally associated with polyesters, i.e.: excellent physical and chemical properties, dimensional stability, low moisture absorption, easy care, good weather resistance, easy process ability and recyclability. The Sorona polymer contains 37% renewably-sourced material and its features are derived from a unique, semi-crystalline molecular structure featuring a pronounced ”kink.”
Sorona offers many advantages over both conventional polyester (PET) and nylon. It can be effectively disperse-dyed at 100*C eliminating the need for carriers or pressurization in the dyeing process. Once dyed, the fabric exhibits deeper shades and superior wash fastness over other products. The fiber is highly resistant to most stains without the need for surface treatment through additives or coatings. It resists UV degradation better than other fibers and exhibits low water absorption and electrostatic charging.*
“It’s hard to imagine these trendsetting designs beginning in a vast field of corn,” says Lulu Faddis, Creative Director and Chief Designer for CHASE54. “With the sport of golf living in a prestigious landscape, it’s important for CHASE54 to pay tribute to the environment in everything we do. We believe in sustainability for the earth, the industry and all fashion innovation to support that. When we heard that beyond the functional qualities of Sorona, the recycling is made easier than PET and Nylon, it was “game on” for CHASE54 and Sorona, Faddis adds.
