CHICAGO, IL. (August 5, 2014) – Freedom Golf Association (FGA), an organization founded in 2012 with a primary goal of advancing the delivery of grass roots golf instruction to those with special needs, announces its September Golf Outing, “A Fun Gathering of FGA Friends.”

The golf outing is open to the public and will be played on Monday, September 15 at Cog Hill Golf & CC in Lemont, IL. Teams will consist of four able-bodied players with one special needs golfer. A 1:00 p.m. shotgun start is planned with dinner and Live entertainment following golf. “I am excited to bring together the people who have helped FGA get started, those who support our great cause to make golf inclusive and anyone new to the FGA family” says E.Q. Sylvester, Chairman and Founder of FGA. “We want to demonstrate that Golf is truly ‘Anyone’s Game’ and bring people together for the love of the game” continued Sylvester.

Through the generous support of donors, FGA is able to provide clinics and events to the special needs community. Funds raised from the golf outing will greatly assist FGA’s efforts to expand its programming. “Our goal is to present a well-planned and memorable day for all participants, capped off with a wonderful dinner and fun entertainment” commented Jorie Parwani, Development Manager for FGA. She went on to say, “We hope everyone will leave the outing excited to be associated with FGA and eager to spread the word about our efforts.”

Freedom Golf Association welcomes anyone with a physical or cognitive disability. Golf is anyone’s game and FGA’s Mission is to bring a sense of joy and freedom to those in the special needs community through their inclusion in the game of golf.

Freedom Golf Association was founded in July 2012 by Edmund Q. Sylvester. He is a Director of the Western Golf Association and a golf enthusiast. Sylvester became a triple amputee in 2011. Soon after leaving the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, he attempted to hit golf balls at a local range. Without assistance, his attempt was not successful and it became the first step towards forming FGA.
