Portland, Ore. (August 13, 2014) – Golf Media Network has hired veteran advertising sales executive Greg Billie to represent the company’s media properties in the travel and destination markets. Billie has more than 30 years of advertising sales experience in digital, print, and email marketing.
Billie will represent GMN’s digital publication The Grain: Changing Your Read, and the company’s Golf Road Warriors program. The Grain is the innovative digital publication produced by the writers of The A Position and circulated by a consortium of U.S. and Canadian golf associations to more than 1.9 million readers. Golf Road Warriors is a program that brings top-level golf writers and videographers to destinations to produce stories, photography and video assets for the destination.
Billie currently serves as the Midwest Sales Manager for WGT Media, which includes World Golf Tour, the largest virtual golf game on the web with over 15 million registered members. Most recently, he was a Travel Sales Manager for Global Golf Post and a Sales Manager for AcquireWeb, a West Coast database firm selling acquisition and retention direct marketing products.
Billie began his career in media planning and buying at Young & Rubicam with management roles in both New York and Chicago and has served as the Director of Midwest Sales for Discover Magazine, part of Disney Publishing Group, and Director, Midwestern Sales for pogo.com now a division of Electronic Arts. From 1986 to 1999, he worked for U.S. News and World Report eventually becoming V.P., Midwest Sales overseeing a $12 million sales office that included the successful launch of Fast Company and Family Fun magazines. He is a graduate of Villanova University, married with two children and resides in Glenview, Illinois.
