MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., August 19, 2014 -TPC Myrtle Beach, located in Murrells Inlet, SC, has selected National Golf Management Company (NGM) to operate the facility. The TPC Myrtle Beach is a part of the TPC network that includes more than 30 golf courses.

This agreement grows NGM’s portfolio to 23 owned or managed golf courses and is the first step in a planned growth strategy. The company will oversee all golf-course operations, agronomy, marketing and sales, and food and beverage services.

“We have been contemplating this decision for quite some time. Given the current market conditions, we feel the timing is right to align TPC Myrtle Beach with National Golf Management,” said Chip Smith, TPC Myrtle Beach owner. “They know the market, and have the experience and resources to increase rounds and revenues, while assuring a great experience for our guests.”

“Our ultimate goal is to provide visitors of Myrtle Beach and local Grand Strand golfers with the highest standards,” said Bob Mauragas, National Golf Management president. “The addition of TPC Myrtle Beach to our portfolio is consistent with our strategic plan to assemble a collection of premium courses and we are excited to begin working with them.”

TPC Myrtle Beach is a Tom Fazio / Lanny Wadkins design. It opened in 1999 as the 100th golf course in the Myrtle Beach area, and has previously hosted the SENIOR TOUR Championship, along with other regional and local events, including the final round of the World Amateur Handicap Championship. It is currently the only course in South Carolina with a 5-star rating in Golf Digest’s “Guide to Best Places to Play” and GOLF Magazine ranks it among their top 10 “Best Public Courses in South Carolina.” The course is also home to the Dustin Johnson Golf School.
