Game Golf challenges connect golfers and encourages friendly competition any time, anywhere

SAN FRANCISCO – (August 28, 2014) – GAME GOLF, the first wearable device that automatically tracks and graphically displays a golfer’s round capturing valuable statistics, announced today its new “Challenges” feature – adding more engagement to its growing online and app-based platform. GAME GOLF Challenges are a fun way to compete with friends and others on GAMEGOLF.com. Just by playing with GAME GOLF, golfers can use their personal game data to compete, compare, share and banter.

GAME GOLF is all about enhancing its platform for golfers. The GAME GOLF Challenges feature allows golfers to either join or create a community Challenge, which are open to everyone on GAME GOLF, create an invite-only Challenge, which are restricted challenges that allow participation to only those invited, or join a featured Challenge. The first featured Challenge is sponsored by Bridgestone Golf and will award free golf balls to the winner at the closing of each Challenge. Golfers creating their own Challenge can select the format and how the Challenge winner will be decided through a number of statistics, including:

• Drive Distance

• Greens in Regulation

• Number of Putts

• Total Pars

• Total Birdies

• Total Score

“We’ve received valuable feedback from golfers regarding the excitement of competition and the ability to compete with friends and family – regardless of their geographical locations,” said John McGuire, GAME GOLF CEO. “We applied the feedback to create the GAME GOLF Challenges feature, which allows golfers to create a competition and determine the requirements, time period and participants. Additionally, our Challenges give golfers access to a new chat feature that allows friendly banter, as well as a leaderboard so they can track their progress against their friends.”

The GAME GOLF Challenges feature is available on the GAME GOLF platform at www.gamegolf.com/challenges. The iOS and Android mobile app will be updated with the Challenges feature later this fall.

Since launching at the PGA Merchandise Show in January 2014, GAME GOLF has been used in 55 countries with nearly 90,000 rounds uploaded to the GAME GOLF platform. In parallel with the success of GAME GOLF, the company has optimized manufacturing processes and driven down production costs. GAME GOLF now aims to bring more golfers to GAMEGOLF.com to compete and have fun with their friends and family. With this objective, GAME GOLF is passing on the effect of its manufacturing efficiencies through an across-the-board price reduction from $249 to $199.

GAME GOLF, which consists of a small, lightweight device worn on the player’s belt and individual sensor tags that attach to the top of the grip on each club, records every shot played during a round of golf using GPS and motion sensing technology. By simply tapping the GAME GOLF sensor tag to the device worn on the waist, the GAME GOLF device automatically records the course, location on the hole, club used, club distance, and now accuracy. After the round, the golfer simply uploads the data via computer to GAMEGOLF.com for review of every shot from every round, which can also be viewed via a mobile app or web platform.

The USGA and the R&A have ruled that GAME GOLF is “Permitted under The Rules of Golf” and is allowed for use in competition.

GAME GOLF has strategic partnerships with the most influential entities in the golf world, including The PGA of America and Golf Channel. In addition, PGA Tour professionals working with GAME GOLF to develop the product are 2010 U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell, 2003 U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk, and Lee Westwood. McDowell has been testing and providing feedback on the product for the last two years.

GAME GOLF is currently available in golf specialty stores, online at www.GAMEGOLF.com, www.amazon.com and at Apple retail stores in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Ireland, and specialty retailers throughout Europe for $199.
