What an interesting and controversial issue! It is indeed an issue with many clubs throughout the region especially where members are concerned.
How often do you see golfers make a bee-line for food outlets located away from their golf clubs? Pretty often – in fact more golfers eat and drink away from their clubs. Why, you may ask?
The easy answer to this is that the food and service provided is just not up to scratch by today’s standards.
The club industry needs to sit up and pay attention to how F&B can become a strong revenue stream. There is a need to pay very careful attention to SERVICE and FOOD QUALITY. Unlike restaurants, the key target audience is members and to get members patronising club outlets regularly is a challenge unless there is a visible differentiation between club facilities and the facilities outside. We need somebody to stand up and get them to realize that they can get a good slice of the action if they step up to the plate and completely overhaul their mindset towards food quality, variety, service and sustainability. There are big bucks to be made from F&B services and it’s a question of getting one’s act together.
Recognising the need to address this challenge, the 2014 Asia Pacific Golf Summit has invited the President of Profitable Foods Inc. Mike Holtzman to step up and offer some timely solutions.
It’s all about good food, good service and increased profits. This can’t be bad!
