3 Ping Pros Among FedExCup Top 5 Competing For $10 Million Prize

PHOENIX (Sept. 9, 2014) – PING pros occupy 3 of the pivotal top-5 spots in FedExCup points heading into the culminating Tour Championship this week. With a victory at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Billy Horschel (2nd in points), Bubba Watson (3rd) and Hunter Mahan (5th) are guaranteed to take home the coveted FedExCup trophy, which comes with a $10 million bonus.

All three come in riding high. BMW Championship winner Horschel was T2 the previous week at the Deutsche Bank. Masters winner Watson has two victories on the year and was second at the BMW. Mahan won The Barclays and is the only PGA Tour player to advance to every Tour Championship since the FedExCup Playoffs began in 2007 and the only player to compete in every FedExCup event.

“We continue to be amazed by Hunter’s historic run in the FedExCup Playoffs, and on the heels of a 1-2 finish with Billy and Bubba at the BMW, this is an exciting time for PING,” said Chance Cozby, Vice President of Sports Development. “It speaks to the quality and depth of our staff that these three players have put themselves in position to win it all. They are peaking at the right time, and we congratulate each of them and wish them all the best in Atlanta.”

For Mahan and Watson, their seasons won’t end with the Tour Championship; they will compete in the Ryder Cup, Sept. 26-28, in Scotland. PING Pro Lee Westwood will play for Team Europe, which will have PING Pro Miguel Ángel Jiménez as a vice captain.
