COLUMBUS, GA., September 12, 2014 – Roy Nix, Executive Director of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP), leader in the advancement of custom clubfitting and club making, and owner of McNix Golf in Columbus, Georgia, wants to publically extend his thanks to Chris Hilleary and Tom Wishon Golf for they help in making the 9th annual AGCP convention possible.
Our annual clubfitters convention is only a few weeks away now. This year is going to be a very special one for two of our most distinguished members. Dan Wilt and Bill Wietzel, two of our original members and both Level 10 clubfitters will be presenting their Masters Thesis on Friday and reenacting a fitting done earlier this year step by step. This is a tremendous opportunity for two of the AGCP’s best to show attendees exactly how a proper fitting is done step by step and in this setting allow Q&A throughout the presentation. Attendees will not only learn how but why the best clubfitters in the world do what they do.
On Saturday the class will be broken into groups and each group will construct the clubs from that fitting to specifications determined by the fitting. Each group will be led by an AGCP Master of Golf Club Technology and go through the process of equalizing the shafts, spining and floing the shafts, correctly weighting the heads and building to exact MOI and frequency match.
The AGCP extends thanks Chris Hilleary of Aerotech Golf and Tom Wishon of Wishon Golf for their contributions of shafts and heads so we have the materials needed to build these sets of clubs.
Chris Hilleary contributed the Aerotech Steelfiber i70 A flex shafts needed for the build and Tom Wishon contributed the Wishon 771CSI iron heads. The Steelfiber shafts are played by both Matt Kuchar and Cameron Beckman on Tour. Aerotech has been leading the industry in composite shaft innovation for more than 15 years, Aerotech Golf delivers cutting edge technology and unparalleled performance. The heart of golf shaft performance comes from consistency in manufacturing and design, and Aerotech produces one of the most consistent golf shafts ever made by utilizing superior knowledge of composites and pushing the envelope in shaft performance through creative design and innovative materials.
Tom Wishon contributed the 771CSI Carbon Steel Irons. The 771CSI irons offers golfers an all new thin face, high COR, variable thickness face in a carbon steel body to offer a wide range in lie and loft bending for custom fitting for golfers of all skill levels. The 771CSI is a Golf Digest Hot List winner.
The 771CSI features:
• High 0.830 COR face design offers the most distance for all golfers.
• CNC Machined Variable Thickness Face delivers superb off-center hit forgiveness.
• Head body material is 1020C carbon steel to allow clubmakers to perform a wide range in loft and lie bending – previously all high COR thin face designs had to be mounted in a 17-4 stainless body, which limited loft and lie fitting options.
• Conventional Head Size and Shape means a wider range of golfers will like the 771CSI design.
• Fully Radiused Sole Design with Rounded Leading Edge offers golfers the best playability from all types of grass as well as from the rough.
• Available in RH & LH in #4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, (AW RH only) in bright satin NiCr electroplated finish
All 5 assembled sets will be sold after the convention to raise funds for the AGCP.
Although there are only a limited number of seats available, if you are a clubfitter or a club builder it isn’t too late to register for the Classes to be held on October 10th & October 11th. Prior to the classes there will be a Demo Day on October 8th and Sponsors exhibits on October 9th.
