Scott Hoffman, the organization’s Chairman of the Board, is pleased to announce the appointment of industry veteran Lee Clapp to the position of Executive Director. He will be supported by Program Director Joe Costa, Financial Officer Pat Baker and Marketing Coordinator Sarah Hutchings.
“I’m excited to announce that Lee will be in place in his new role just prior to the group’s annual show and meeting, October 6th, 7th, and 8th in Memphis, Tenn. I’ve worked with him for several years and his commitment to an authentic business relationship is second to none.
His background of 18 years as a local Golf Retailer in the Western N.Y. market and 15 years as an award winning sales representative for Callaway Golf and Cobra Puma Golf equips him with a unique partnership perspective that recognizes the needs of both the retailer and the vendor”.
“I’m thrilled to join this group of independent local golf retailers and serve in such an important capacity,” said Clapp. “I’ve known some members for many years, and have a great appreciation and the utmost respect for their passion, as well as for the longevity of the group. These member facilities are where many new golfers took their first real swings on a driving range or their first golf lesson. We’re proud of that heritage!
One of the things I relished as a member of a buying group was the opportunity to brainstorm best practices with fellow members. I’m looking forward to engaging in this type of exchange of ideas again. This will also assist me in pinpointing member’s needs.
I’m confident the equipment manufacturers agree; it is business critical to forge strong partnerships that yield mutually beneficial revenue and margins. The stronger the programs and co-marketing campaigns, the more robust the membership support will be.
All group committees will be actively engaged to bring a front-line perspective to the evaluation process of programs and products. We will pursue several new initiatives to deliver the consumer, member and vendor exceptional value. Manufacturers should be excited about the additional exposure of their brand in member facilities.
I am confident prospective members will be intrigued by the future of the National Golf Buyers Association. As always, it affords them the opportunity to preserve their individuality, but with enhanced buying power and sincere peer support.
It’s a challenging time in the industry; but I am excited to be a part of what I believe will be, for our group of local golf merchants, a renaissance.”
