Stafford, VA – The MAPGA Section staff participated in PGA Golf Day as a team on Monday, September 15 at Augustine Golf Club in Stafford, Virginia. The Section staff exceeded their goal of playing over 200 holes collectively after they were able to complete 360 holes in 11 hours. Junior Golf Director Bob Heintz led the way for the staff as he completed 100 holes on his own.

PGA Golf Day is the Section’s annual fundraising program for the MAPGA Scholarship Foundation and also for a charity of the participant’s choice. The Section staff chose Friends of the Rappahannock as their local charity and hope to raise close to $5,000. The following PGA Professionals also participated in PGA Golf Day with half of their proceeds going to the MAPGA Scholarship Foundation and the other half going to the charity of their choice:

Dave Barton, PGA of Manor CC $6,550 to Salute Military Golf Association

Joshua Tremblay, PGA of Springfield G&CC $6,610 to City Dogs Rescue

Maureen Barolet, PGA of Clustered Spires GC $1,400 to Autism Speaks

Scott Peterson of Clustered Spires GC $650 to Breast Cancer Research

It is not too late to donate to this fundraising event so if you would like to support the staff or one of the other participants by making a donation, please visit their fundraising page at http://www.pgagolfday.com/sections/middle-atlantic/2014/players/mapga/. A special thank you to all those involved in the 2014 PGA Golf Day program.
