LAKE MARY, FL – Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Lake Mary is bringing back an event that gives juniors the opportunity to experience what the PGA Tour professionals do with the Fed-Ex Cup.
The Timacuan Junior Race for the Cup is a competitive junior golf tour for all skill levels. Junior golfers from age 5 to 16 will be placed in different divisions based on skill levels for boys and girls.
The juniors will play 9 holes of golf every other week and will be awarded points based on participation and performance. All players will receive complimentary range balls one-hour prior to each tournament.
At the conclusion of the season a Major Championship will be held, in which trophies will be awarded for boys and girls in each division.
The regular season schedule begins on Oct. 26. The remainder of the schedule is Nov. 2, Nov. 16, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. There will be a 2 pm shotgun each day. The event on Dec. 14 will be the Tour Championship and will offer double points.
Points will be awarded at each regular-season tournament as follows: 50 points for participation, 50 points for turning in a signed scorecard, and 100 to 600 points for each tournament based on results. The player with the most combined points from the regular season and Tour Championship will be crowned the champion. There will also be trophies for four flight winners: White Tees, Green Tees, Red Tees and Junior Tees.
Registration fee for the entire regular season is $125, or you can pay $30 per each regular season tournament. The entry fee for the Tour Championship includes participation medal & pizza.
