Webb runner up at Evian Championship

20 Percent of TOUR Championship Field Used Nippon Shaft

CARLSBAD, Calif. (September 15, 2014) – Nippon Shaft recorded a victory on the European Tour over the weekend, as the company continues to make inroads among the world’s top players.

At the Dutch Open at Kennemer Golf Club in Zandvoort, the 37-year-old Englishman recorded his first victory in 15 months thanks to a final round 66 for a 14-under par total. His tools for victory were Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 ORA steel shafts in his irons. The win came just two weeks after he became a father for the first time.

At the LPGA’s Evian Championship in France, longtime Nippon Shaft endorser Karrie Webb finished one stroke out of a playoff to claim second place. Webb used the N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 1050 steel shafts in her irons. She also uses NIPPON SHAFT’S graphite Regio 65S in her driver.

Meanwhile, at the PGA TOUR’s TOUR Championship at East Lake Country Club in Atlanta, six of the final 30 players eligible to compete in the FedExCup finale used steel Nippon Shaft products in their irons. Three used the N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 130s; two prototype ST shafts, and one used Tour 120s. That number represents 20 percent of the field.

“Nippon Shaft is extremely proud to be able to provide a variety of high quality steel shafts that players from all over the world use to compete on all major professional tours,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for the Japanese club maker. “These outstanding products have been developed with input from the best players in the world, and we believe we have answered their needs.”

Nippon Shaft long has been the most popular steel shaft on the LPGA Tour, thanks to its ability to manufacture a shaft that combines light weight and sturdiness, which ensures maximum control.

In recent years, Nippon Shaft has successfully expanded its product line to include shafts designed for PGA TOUR and European Tour professionals and low-handicap amateurs, adhering to the same stringent quality standards that have been the hallmark of its brand.

Over the years, Nippon Shaft recorded hundreds of victories on professional golf tours worldwide, as the best players in the world increasingly chose to install in their irons steel shafts manufactured in Japan to unparalleled quality standards.

Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands. In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Nippon Shaft’s dedicated global club fitter network. Details of these can be found at www.nipponshaft.com

Nippon Shaft manufactures all of its steel and graphite shafts in a state-of-the-art factory in Komagane, Japan. The company’s integrated production lines are strictly monitored and controlled with thorough checks conducted responsibly through the entire production process. As a result, Nippon Shaft is able to control high product quality – from material selection to final testing.

Based in Yokohama, Japan, Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia. Nippon Shaft is a privately-held subsidiary of NHK Spring Co. LTD, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Carlsbad.
