Introducing the Ryder Cup-inspired Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M
With a history that dates back nearly 85 years, the Ryder Cup is among the most anticipated events on the sporting calendar, whether it takes place in the United States or in Europe.
From 23 to 28 September 2014, this unique competition will be held at Gleneagles in Scotland, with Team USA and Team Europe – made up of the best golfers from both sides of the Atlantic – taking to the course to compete, driven by their love of the sport and the thrill of victory.
As the creator of the official watch of Team USA, OMEGA has produced a special version of its Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M.
This distinctive timepiece has facetted blue hour and minute hands, an 18K yellow gold seconds hand and red transferred design elements. These colours against the silvery background of the dial are inspired by the Ryder Cup logo. The dial also features the instantly recognisable “Teak Concept” pattern that distinguishes Aqua Terra models from all other timepieces in the Seamaster family. This stainless steel wristwatch is presented on a matching bracelet.
At the heart of this Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M is the OMEGA Master Co-Axial calibre 8500, a self-winding, anti-magnetic mechanical movement that is characterised by its outstanding reliability and improved chronometric performance over time. What separates this movement from its Co-Axial cousins is its resistance to strong magnetic fields, even those that exceed 15,000 gauss. This anti-magnetic technology is exclusive to OMEGA and was introduced in 2013 and industrialised this year.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M is water resistant to 15 bar (150 metres / 500 feet) and it is offered with a full four-year warranty.
OMEGA and golf
With its title sponsorship of some of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments like the European Masters, the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies’ Masters, OMEGA is involved in golf all around the world. The brand is proud to work with some of the game’s best players including Rory McIlroy, Stacy Lewis, Sergio Garcia, Michelle Wie and a number of other PGA and LPGA stars.
OMEGA and the PGA of America
At the PGA Championship earlier this year, it was announced that the PGA of America and OMEGA had extended their partnership through 2022. This new agreement will see the brand continue to serve as Official Patron and Official Timekeeper of the PGA of America for another eight years beginning in 2015, further reinforcing OMEGA’s commitment to the growth of the game of golf globally and across the United States. In this capacity, OMEGA serves as Official Timekeeper of the Ryder Cup when it is contested on American soil.
