Swing Catalyst At Golf Europe 2014 – International Golf Exhibition

September 23, 2014

Trondheim, Norway – Swing Catalyst, the complete swing analysis system used by instructors, coaches and golfers around the world, will exhibit at the upcoming Golf Europe 2014 show Sept. 28 – 30 in Augsburg, Germany.

On Monday, Sept. 29 at the convention, Swing Catalyst’s head of research and development Dr. David McGhie will conduct a seminar on the effects of ground reaction forces on the golf swing.

McGhie has a PhD in biomechanics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he did research on traction and impact absorption of artificial turf. He’s also previously published a paper on muscle activity and force in cycling, and taught biomechanics and data collection/analysis at both undergraduate and graduate level at the university.

“Most golfers have some abstract notion of using the ground to generate force in the golf swing,” says McGhie. “With the Swing Catalyst 3D Motion Plate, a unique combination of pressure plate and force plate technology, the exact amount of force the golfer generates through the ground is measured, making this knowledge concrete. The torque produced at the feet is important both for the ability to transfer force to the club and for the ability to control the magnitude and direction of body rotations, which are instrumental elements of the swing.”

About Initial Force AS

Initial Force AS is a Norwegian company that was established in 2006, with the goal of developing an easy-to-understand and simple-to-use motion analysis system for golf instruction. Previously this type of data was only available at high-end research facilities, Olympic training centers, and advanced university sports laboratories. The results of the endeavors led to the development of Swing Catalyst, a revolutionary new technological system for golf training that integrates the unique Swing Catalyst 3D Motion and Balance Plates, multiple high-speed cameras and the most-popular ball flight and club tracking devices.
