Golfweek College Bound Membership Helps Junior Players with Recruiting and Scholarships
ORLANDO, Fla. (October 28, 2014) – Golfweek today announced the upcoming nationwide launch of Golfweek College Bound Membership (CBM) – a new mentoring/recruiting program for junior golfers and their parents. After its initial Oct. 24 rollout with the Texas Junior Golf Tour, the first Golfweek CBM partner tour, the one-of-a-kind program will expand nationally on Saturday by beginning to work with additional tours to offer young athletes across the country the tools they need to play competitively at the next level.
“The biggest challenge most junior golfers and their parents encounter is finding affordable access to the information they need regarding the scholarship and recruiting process,” said Golfweek CBM Director Bobby Minor. “It’s not just playing a tournament that leads to success; having a plan and starting early in the process is the key to obtaining success. Golfweek College Bound Membership provides easy access to that information as well as access to experts that is not available anywhere else. And, most of all, everyone here truly wants to help junior golfers achieve their dreams.”
Housed on GolfweekCBM.com, Golfweek CBM is an online, 10-month mentoring program for junior golfers who want to play college golf and secure a scholarship via golf or academics. Members have access to insight and wisdom of former and current college coaches, parents of college golfers and college golfers who have successfully navigated the transition from junior golf to college golf.
“The team behind this program has helped thousands of players and parents over the years successfully navigate the path from junior golf to college golf,” said Minor. “We’ve all either had a child who transitioned from junior golf to college golf or have done it ourselves. The process can be overwhelming and time and money can be wasted on the learning curve.”
GolfweekCBM.com offers members expert videos and webinars spanning a wide range of topics, which include:
• Choosing a college
• Building a golf-specific resume that gets the attention of college coaches
• Planning unofficial visits
• Organizing a targeted tournament schedule
• Communicating with college coaches
• Transitioning from being a junior golfer to a college athlete
Plus, Golfweek CBM coordinates a number of exclusive member conference calls with major names in the golf world, including No. 14 Jordan Spieth and his father, Shawn; former Arizona State golf coach Randy Lein; and Sam Randolph, a championship golfer at USC, U.S. Amateur winner and PGA Tour winner.
“Golfweek College Bound Membership is an exciting opportunity for all junior golfers and the best thing to hit junior golf in years,” said Dave Jones, president of the Texas Junior Golf Tour. “We organize our tournaments to help prepare junior golfers for national competition and to enhance golf and academic scholarship opportunities, and it’s exciting to finally have college golf mentorship under the most trusted name in junior and college golf.”
