(Londonderry, NH) – Danish brand ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – announces the extension of its endorsement agreement with PGA Tour Player Will Wilcox, who will continue to showcase the company logo on his shirt collar and compete in its BIOM golf shoes featuring NATURAL MOTION technology.
A 28-year-old Alabama native, Wilcox recorded five top-25 finishes as a PGA Tour rookie in 2014 and concluded the year ranked among the top-20 in Total Driving. Notably, he placed T4 at the Greenbrier Classic and T8 at the Sony Open.
“Will has proven that he can elevate his performance while competing against the game’s best players,” says Jesper Thuen, Global Sponsorship, PR & Event Manager, ECCO Golf. “He’s poised to take yet another step forward in 2015.”
Taught the game by his mother, Kim, who coaches the University of Alabama at Birmingham women’s golf team, Wilcox was a nationally-ranked junior before becoming a three-time collegiate All-American. He turned professional in 2009, winning three times between the NGA Tour and Canadian Tour before earning his PGA Tour card by finishing No. 7 on the 2013 Web.com Tour money list. That season, he won the South Georgia Classic and became only the fourth player in Web.com Tour history to shoot a 59 in competition (final round of Utah Championship).
“ECCO makes the most comfortable and durable golf shoes I’ve ever worn,” says Wilcox. “The wide variety of styles allows me to switch back and forth between cleated and hybrid models depending on the footwear experience I want on a particular day.”
Wilcox will compete in a range of selections from the award-winning ECCO BIOM line featuring NATURAL MOTION technology. These include the new BIOM Hybrid 2 and BIOM G2 models.
The ECCO Golf collection is also endorsed by scores of other Tour stars worldwide, including Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjørn, Marcel Siem, Thongchai Jaidee, Andreas Hartø, Wu Ashun, JB Hansen, Belén Mozo, Caroline Masson and Gerina Piller.
