Darren Cooke Wins “Club Professional of the Year”
Darren Cooke of Canmore Golf & Curling Club was named the PGA of Alberta’s 2014 “Club Professional of the Year” at last week’s award ceremony at the Edmonton Expo Centre.
Nominated by his peers, Cooke was selected by a committee of the previous 10 winners based on career performance with an emphasis on the 2014 season. Other criterion includes overall performance as a club professional, service to the PGA, leadership ability, maintaining an image other PGA members should aspire to and promoting the game.
“My name goes on the award, but this is an achievement for the entire Canmore Golf & Curling Club team,” said Cooke, the club’s general manager and director of golf. “This honor isn’t possible without my management and pro shop colleagues, many of whom I have worked with for over 20 years, and the outstanding support we receive from our members and community.”
As a regional winner, Cooke is eligible to receive the same award from the PGA of Canada in December.
Simon Jones of The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course, another Canadian Rockies Golf partner, was also nominated for “Merchandiser of the Year”.
New Apple Product Features Canadian Rockies Imagery
The new Apple iPad will use high-resolution images of the Canadian Rockies in Alberta when featuring its improved camera and Retina display. Customers see these images when viewing the product online or interacting with it in-person at retail locations across the globe.
