Mosaic to support golf and club components of New England’s premier
culinary, golf & special events destination
Alpharetta, Ga. (November 19, 2014) – Mosaic Clubs & Resorts has been selected to provide management support to The International, a premier 700-acre golf, culinary and special events destination founded in 1901 and situated across the historic and idyllic countryside of Bolton, Mass., located less than an hour west of Boston.
Under the arrangement, The International’s management team stays in place, while Mosaic provides an additional layer of support and expertise, focused primarily on the golf and club components of the business.
The International boasts an inviting 50-room lodge, fitness center, and a farm-to-table dining experience at The Fireplace Room restaurant, a favorite destination for members and local residents alike. Culinary offerings at The International and offsite catering are guided by Chef Anthony Ambrose, a fixture in Boston dining for 30 years, a sought-after celebrity chef on national television and a recent guest chef for the James Beard Foundation Great Regional Chefs of America Series.
Special event hosting is a hallmark of The International. Its plentiful and flexible event space includes the 20,000 sq. ft. Business Conference Center, the Grand Ballroom which can accommodate seated gatherings for up to 350 people, the Fireplace Room for smaller events and several patios, gardens and the Fairway Lawn for outdoor weddings and other affairs.
The golf distinctions at The International are bountiful, beginning with its Geoffrey Cornish-designed Pines Course, opened in 1957 and known for six decades as one of the longest and most difficult golf courses in the world at almost 8,400 yards and a par of 72.
While the private Pines Course plays a manageable 6,547 yards from the middle tees, many a back-tee challenger has braved the Pines’ par-5, fifth hole at 715-yards, and the par-3 seventh at 277 yards, just to name a few of the layout’s daunting challenges. Golf Digest magazine ranks the Pines Course the second most difficult in the country after the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.
The International also offers the stunning semi-private Oaks Course, the only Tom Fazio design in New England. Golf Channel travel editor, Matt Ginella, rates the Oaks Course as the number one place to play golf near Boston, while Golf Digest ranking panelists rate it the “Best Course You Can Play” in Massachusetts.
Additionally, the unique Tom Fazio-designed, 16-acre Teaching Center at The International is anchored by the Rick Smith Golf Academy, providing both individual and group instruction. Smith is a world-renowned swing coach who worked with Phil Mickelson for 15 years. The International also has an exquisitely decorated and supplied golf shop, often ranked among the Top 100 in the country by Golf Digest.
“The entire Mosaic team is thrilled to support the vitality of such an iconic New England treasure as The International,” says Mosaic founding partner and chairman, Whitney Crouse. “Its national reputation for excellence is the standard we will hold high and strive to exceed.”
Conceived as a welcoming suburban club at the turn of the last century, The International continues to host a robust club membership for individuals, families and corporate clients, as well as golf outings for major corporations in the Boston area.

About The International Founded on the original grounds of a nine-hole golf course built in 1899, The International was purchased from Starwood Hotels & Resorts by Concord, Massachusetts residents Daniel and Florence Weadock in 1999. Under their stewardship, The International underwent major expansions, including the hiring of leading golf architect Tom Fazio to build The Oaks, a new, sloping 18-hole semi-private course carved out of primeval forest. Their son, Dan Weadock Jr., took over day-to-day operations in 2005 and has been leading a massive business transformation program ever since, repositioning The International from a quiet, private enclave to a world-class golf and special-event destination open to the public since 2010. The International is now comprised of two world-class golf courses (The Pines is private; The Oaks is semi-private), the year-round Fireplace Room Restaurant, on & off-site catering, a special event venue with three unique spaces, and a 50-room on-site hotel. 159 Ballville Road | Bolton, MA 01740. http://theinternational.com/
