VACAVILLE, Calif. – The Northern California Section of the PGA is pleased to announce that Greg Ciavarelli, PGA Professional at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, Calif., has earned the 2014 NCPGA Club Fitter of the Year Award. Ciavarelli is receiving this award for his expertise in fitting golfers with the proper equipment. Club fitters directly help the golf playing public to improve their playing ability and their enjoyment of the game.
Ciavarelli keeps teaching and fitting simple, believing in basic fundamentals as the foundation of great golfers. He strives to teach his students to not only master their swings, but to master their short game and course management abilities. By creating better golfers and not just golf swings, he helps his students enjoy playing the game they already love even more.
“My philosophy is to fit somebody with his or her best swing in mind. However, because of the variety of golfers I fit, this is not always possible. The player interview is very important for this reason and I will quickly assess if the golfer will continue to improve or remain playing at their current level. Regardless of what I determine I still take a very simple approach to fitting, educating the golfer on all variables in club fitting,” said Ciavarelli. “By providing golfers the logic and reasoning behind each decision of the club fitting process, they will leave with the confidence in their new clubs and ultimately enjoy the game more.”
The club fitting program at Haggin Oaks is imperative to the success of the business as a whole. The expertise of the staff combined with a state of the art club fitting studio and the ability to see the entire ball flight allows Ciavarelli to give customers a memorable experience. One of the most successful promotions is its Annual Golf Expo, providing more than 200 fittings in one weekend with foot traffic in excess of 100,000 people.
Ciavarelli is certified as a fitter for Callaway, Titleist, Mizuno, Ping, Tour Edge, Adams, Cleveland, Nike, and TrackMan. He has given approximately 400-450 fittings in the last 12 months and more than 2,500 in his career. These include woods, irons, hybrids, wedges, putter and golf ball fittings.
“Greg has a consistent eight-step approach to fitting clubs that ensures every player maximizes their potential on the course and gets the most enjoyment out of their game,” said NCPGA Awards Chairman Mark Naylor, PGA. “We are proud to recognize his expertise with our Club Fitter of the Year award.”
Ciavarelli is among 19 recipients of the NCPGA’s 2014 Annual Section Awards. Section awards are given to PGA Professionals and industry leaders who have excelled in the game and business of golf. The NCPGA will recognize its 2014 Annual Section Award winners on Sunday, December 7 at the NCPGA Special Awards Ceremony & President’s Dinner at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, California. This event, a highlight for the year, will be held the evening prior to the NCPGA Annual Meeting. There are more than 200 golf professionals and industry leaders expected to attend. E-Z-Go Textron is a presenting partner and PGA Resort & Spa and Bluebird Wines are supporting partners of the Awards Ceremony.
