Orlando, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2014) … It’s been an impressive and auspicious few weeks for Proponent Group, LLC, the member-based service company that supports golf’s top instructors.
In November, Proponent Group merged with the newly formed Golf Channel Academy unit of NBC Sports Group’s Golf Channel, to create a dedicated network of premier teaching facilities. Golf Channel Academy is the first network devoted to efficiently growing the business of golf instruction through a unique marketing partnership with selected coaches and their facilities. This network will utilize a variety of Golf Channel promotional and customized marketing tools for each facility.
Proponent Group president Lorin Anderson believes this merger will make the organization he founded in 2007 an even more important resource to its 450 instructor members.
“The merger with Golf Channel Academy makes us more vital to our members as it brings many new services that they will be able to take advantage of no matter who they are or where they teach,” says Anderson. “Nothing we currently do for our members is going away. Instead, this merger of assets and talent sets us up to better support all of our coaches as they seek to improve and increase their business.”
It was time for an infusion of talent and energy that could take Proponent Group to the next level, and this is it,” says Anderson. “We are already starting to tap into the unmatched array of marketing, business, and social-media resources Golf Channel has to offer and are pushing them out to our members.”
Proponent Group continues to accept new members, both associates (teachers with less than 10 years’ experience teaching) and full members, all of whom can tap into Proponent’s extensive educational and consulting resources that current members have come to rely on to help build their golf instruction businesses. “And now with Golf Channel Academy,” says Anderson, “some of our members can turbocharge their business by becoming part of this new venture. It won’t be appropriate for every instructor, but it’s another opportunity that only we can offer.”
Golf Channel Academy plans to open more than 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada within five years and will lean on Proponent Group’s highly qualified membership to fuel that growth.
“I want to be very clear,” Anderson says. “Proponent Group’s mission is not going to change. We will continue to assist the game’s best teachers, helping them expand and improve their teaching skills and their businesses. For some, that will mean involvement with Golf Channel Academy. But for others-those who continue to succeed as independent businesses we want to help them however we can.”
