PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., December 11, 2014 – The Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona has earned a Three- Star Plus Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ certification from the National Women’s Golf Alliance (NWGA).
The certification program assesses golf facilities on standards and best practices that make the facility welcoming and attractive to women. A trained NWGA evaluator and three other female golfers play an 18-hole round to evaluate the facility on five key areas of focus: Golf Course Playability, Customer Service, Golf Course Amenities, Facility Amenities and Golf Programs. Facilities that achieve a score of 80 percent or higher in at least three of these areas receive certification. Half stars are awarded for scores of 70 percent or higher. Two half-stars do not equal another star.
Valid for three years, the Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ designation comes with publicity and marketing, including an insignia to use with promotional materials and advertising.
“We congratulate the Legacy Golf Club for earning Three Stars Plus for Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ for women golfers,” said Debbie Waitkus, a founding partner of NWGA and president of Golf for Cause. “They join a growing number of facilities across the county who we are pleased to recognize with NWGA certification for offering excellent customer service and amenities as well as strong programming for women. They also are working closely with the EWGA (Executive Women’s Golf Association) to help establish a new Phoenix chapter. ”
The Legacy Golf Club is a beautiful Phoenix resort with an 18-hole par 71 championship course designed by renowned golf course architect Gary Panks, spacious suites, pristine pool and a world class golf performance center. Rich in heritage and history, the golf club is located on what was once noted Arizona pioneer Dwight B Heard’s 7,500-acre ranch, with many of the historical structures and monuments preserved.
“The NWGA certification process gives us a valuable resource to learn what we are doing well and how we can become more welcoming to women,” says Rich Strozewski, General Manager, The Legacy Golf Club. “We understand the importance of Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ to attract more women golfers. It is simply smart business.”
The National Women’s Golf Alliance unites three highly respected women’s golf organizations — the EWGA, Golf for Cause, LLC and Jan Bel Jan Golf Course Design — with the mission to increase the number of women playing golf and engagement levels of existing women golfers. Utilizing their combined years of expertise, data and observation regarding what women golfers want, need and expect for an enhanced playing experience, the NWGA has developed a base of standards and best practices to help golf facilities attract more women golfers and generate more revenue.
