Interested in understanding the State of the Industry for 2014? Arnold Palmer says, “It’s fine” and the PGA of America isn’t addressing it this year on either the main stage or the educational sessions so it must be OK, right? For those who’d like a little more rigor than either of these approaches, I cordially invite you to join me for the 12th annual “State of the Industry” presentation at the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show in the Orange County Convention Center.
• Where: This year’s discussion will again be hosted by the International Network of Golf (ING) and held in their ClubING conference room, 309A & B
• Date: Thursday, January 22nd
• Time(s): We’ll have two sessions: 10:30-11:30AM and 3:30-4:30PM EST. Both sessions will have a 30 minute question-and-answer period following the presentation
• Participation options: In person (get the “full effect”) or via webcast (1 shade of grey)
I will be joined in preparing and conducting the discussion by perennial cohort-in-crime, Stuart Lindsay, Principal of Edgehill Golf Advisors.
Key topics of this year’s discussion will be:
• 2014 facility revenue results, flat at best
• 2014 Utilization, will slip again, rounds decline outpacing flat playable hours
• 2013 golfer base, still falling
• 2014 supply change, the “plows” are stuck in low gear
• 2014 equipment sales, a year to forget for Woods and Balls
• Generation X, still trying to solve the puzzle
• Technology advances, what’s “for show” and what’s “to go”?
• “The Cloud,” is it ready for golf industry primetime?
• Viable options to barter: On the horizon or is this as good as it gets?
Similar to last year’s two gatherings of just over 200 total known Pellucid sympathizers and guests, we anticipate a lively give-and-take discussion. The PGA has once again agreed to award 1 MSR educational credit for PGA professionals attending and providing their member number.
New this year, we’re using the web for self-registration to the event. Below are the instructions to RSVP for the session of your choice either in-person or the live streaming version. PGA Members please note that we’ve included a space to enter your Member # so you don’t have to do that at the door anymore.
10:30-11:30AM EST Session, in-person register
3:30-4:30PM EST Session, in-person register
10:30-11:30AM Session, webcast register
3:30-4:30PM EST Session, webcast register
Space is limited to 125 attendees at each session and 100 concurrent participants for each of the webcast sessions based on first-registered for each of the sessions.
For those attending in person, to reduce congestion at the door immediately prior to each session, we’re asking you to just drop your business card with Harvey at the door (PGA Members if you didn’t provide your Member # during registration, this is your 2nd chance, just write it on your card before depositing).
For those attending only the GIS Show, similar to last year we’ll look to do a webcast video replay of the presentation during the show rather than an in-person discussion due to NGCOA’s time and venue constraints. Currently our plan is to stream the presentation at high noon (CST, for the show in San Antonio) on both Wednesday 2/25 and Thursday 2/26. We’ll send out shortly a separate Save the Date for that event.
As always, our primary objective is to produce insight value worthy of your one hour time investment. We hope to see you there or have you join us via the webcast.
Regards,
Jim Koppenhaver
President, Pellucid Corp.
