Walking Caddies At Colonial Williamsburg's Golden Horseshoe Help Golfers Get The Most Out Of The Game

Williamsburg, VA (Jan. 27, 2015) – There’s no better way to play golf than with a caddie.
“Having a caddie by your side is a remarkable and memorable experience,” said Glen Byrnes, Golden Horseshoe director of golf. “Caddies assist the player with strategy while navigating through our courses’ ridges and ravines. They help read greens, provide accurate yardages and offer invaluable strategic insight for playing each hole.”
At Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, walking caddies and forecaddies help golfers enjoy the natural setting and spectacular wildlife of its Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary golf courses. The caddie service is offered at all three signature Golden Horseshoe courses-the Gold, the Green, and the Spotswood.
Experienced caddies hold a wealth of knowledge about The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club-its history and the surrounding environment-essentially acting as on-course concierges for golfers. By enriching the golfer’s experience, the caddies recapture the traditions and heritage of the game missing at so many other venues.
The knowledge and guidance of a caddie will prove enormously helpful to any player navigating the dramatic angles and shifting elevations of Golden Horseshoe’s three courses, created by two of the game’s most famous architects. The 51-year-old Gold Course and the 50-year-old Spotswood Course were designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The Green Course, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2016, was designed by his son Rees Jones. All three layouts place a premium on finesse, imagination and shot-making.
Revenue from play on the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club’s three courses supports The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, keeping this vital piece of American history alive and thriving. Caddie requests may be made when reserving tee times, call (757) 220-7696.
