(BRYAN, Texas) – Traditions Club and Community – the home of the Texas A&M University golf teams – announces that it will be the site for a pair of NCAA Division I golf tournaments – the women’s regional May 5-7, 2016 and the men’s regional May 14-16, 2018.
The NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Committee tabbed Traditions Club as one of four sites for the 2016 Regionals, while the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Committee selected the club as one of six venues for the 2018 Regionals.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, the 7,146-yard Traditions Course navigates thick stands of hardwoods while traversing rolling terrain unique to the Brazos Valley. The club has been the site of numerous marquee tournaments for the Texas Golf Association, and played host to the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship.
“This is such a great honor for Traditions to host, not just one NCAA regional, but two,” says Traditions General Manager Bill Horton. “This selection by the NCAA shows the confidence they have in our club to provide a first-class experience at one of the top college golf facilities in the country. More special is that this is a return engagement after hosting the 2011 Women’s NCAA Golf Championship and continues to build on our legacy.”
Besides the golf course, Traditions Club and Community features a 25,000 sq. foot Clubhouse featuring the Century Room, Sully Dining Room, 12th Man Bar & Grille, 1876 Wine Cellar and Event Lawn. Amenities also include a 25-meter junior Olympic lap and sport-leisure pools; family swim center with beach-like wading pool; a fully-equipped fitness center; and men’s and women’s locker rooms. Casual fare is offered at the Pool Grille and fine dining at the clubhouse.
“We are excited that the NCAA Golf Committees have given Texas A&M the opportunity to host these special events. This is phenomenal news for our community, as we are able to showcase Aggieland to student-athletes and visitors from across the country,” says Texas A&M Director of Athletics Eric Hyman. “Traditions regularly receives rave reviews as one of the top golf courses in the country. The combination of an outstanding facility, our dedicated community partners and successful history of hosting NCAA events makes Aggieland an ideal tournament destination.”
