CHICAGO, IL, JANUARY 30, 2015: OBAN celebrates a successful start to the 2015 season with a win at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship tournament held at the Hualaiai Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii this past weekend. The champion played OBAN’s Kiyoshi Gold 65X shaft in his Ping G30 driver, and a second Kiyoshi Gold 75X shaft in his Ping G30 3 wood. The 51-year-old Spaniard fired a final round of 66 on Sunday, with 6 birdies on the back nine, to edge out the field by a single stroke.
“The Kiyoshi Gold wins on Tour in 2014 showcased the performance capabilities of the shaft design,” said Mike Perry, OBAN European Tour Representative. “It’s satisfying to start the 2015 season off with an exciting final round rally and an early Tour victory.” Released in 2013, the Kiyoshi Gold was designed to complement the performance characteristics of the new low spin driver heads. The shaft has a softer bend profile that allows for high launch and mid spin characteristics.
