With the LPGA Tour season starting back up this past week in Ocala, Fla, Volvik has announced their 2015 Professional Tour Staff. Nine LPGA Tour players will be playing different color Volvik golf balls this season on the LPGA Tour, while three Volvik staffers are set to play Volvik golf balls on the PGA TOUR, Web.com Tour and Champions Tour.
Eight of the Volvik LPGA Tour players were in the field in the first event of the season at the Coates Golf Championship this past week, making Volvik the #2 most played golf ball to start the 2015 LPGA season, according to the Darrell Survey.
Volvik ranked as the #2 ranking manufacturer in prize money earned on the 2014 LPGA Tour, with professionals using their ultra-high performance balls earning $3.7 million, according to the Darrell Survey. All of their golf balls played on the 2014 LPGA Tour were color golf balls.
With 223 Volvik golf balls in play last season, the amount of money earned on the 2014 LPGA Tour averaged $16,989 per golf ball in play. That is the highest average of prize money earned per ball in play than any of the Top 5 most played golf ball manufacturers on the 2014 LPGA Tour. Volvik bested the next closest manufacturer in the Top 5 of golf ball usage on the 2014 LPGA Tour by over $4,300 per ball.
Volvik has re-signed endorsement deals with the #26 ranking player from the 2014 money list, Meena Lee, #37 ranked Ilhee Lee and rising star Victoria Elizabeth for the 2015 season. Volvik announced the re-signing of Pornanong Phatlum, who ranked #20 on the money list, in December.
Top 10 LPGA player Chella Choi, Mi Hyang Lee, the first ever winner of an LPGA Tour event with an Orange golf ball, and #63 ranked Thidapa Suwannapura all remain on Team Volvik through previous agreements.
Two new LPGA Tour players signed with Volvik for 2015 in signing ceremonies held at the Volvik booth at the annual Orlando PGA Merchandise Show. Sadena Parks signed with Volvik Jan. 22. Parks finished 4th in the Volvik Race for the Card on the 2014 Symetra Tour, winning twice and earning her full status on 2015 LPGA Tour. Casey Grice also signed with Team Volvik Jan. 21. Grice earned status for the 2015 LPGA Tour through LPGA Qualifying School. She will play on the LPGA Tour and the Symetra Tour in 2015. She had 3 Top 10 finishes on the Symetra Tour in 2014 and finished 24th in the Volvik Race for the Card in her rookie season.
Volvik has also re-signed PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour player Tim Petrovic and 3-time Major Champion Larry Nelson for the 2015 season. Masters winner Craig Stadler remains on contract with Team Volvik for the 2015 season.
Volvik will see more of their golf balls put into play through non-endorsed players on the LPGA Tour, Champions and Web.com Tour in 2015. Volvik also expects 25-30 Symetra Tour players to put Volvik in play this season as Volvik enters their third year as the official golf ball of the Symetra Tour and sponsor of the Volvik Race for the Card where 10 players earn their LPGA Tour cards every year.
“We had a banner year in 2014 on the pro tours, finishing as the #2 golf ball in total prize money on the LPGA Tour, leading an event on the PGA TOUR and experiencing our first ever ball in play at The Masters,” said Volvik USA President Don Shin. “We look to expand upon this amazing success with the team we have put together for 2015.”
