ALBUQUERQUE – Sandia Golf Club recently announced the appointment of Lauren Landavazo as the new Director of Catering. She will be responsible for all aspects of the club’s bustling catering operation that includes weddings, receptions, group golf events, corporate functions and a host of other special events.
“Lauren came to us with a valuable skill set in tow,” said Matt Molloy, General Manager. “She’s a manager who worked her way through the ranks to land where she is today. This gives Lauren a practical understanding of each aspect of catering services that will no doubt serve as an asset for our operation.”
Landavazo joined the Sandia team after spending the last two years at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation in Albuquerque, where she served as the Special Events Manager. With no job too big or too small, Landavazo was responsible for everything from lead generation to staff training.
Before that, she worked her way through the catering operation at Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town, Heritage Hotels and Resorts also located in Albuquerque, where she served as the Special Events Manager from 2007-2009 – her first formal position in the field. She quickly moved from there to the position of Convention Service Manager for a year before reaching the position of Director of Catering and Convention Services from 2010 to 2013.
Along the way, Landavazo was named the 2010 and 2011 Manager of the Year, Sales and Revenue Management for Heritage Hotels and Resorts. She was also was named as the 2009 Manager of the Year for Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town. In 2006, Landavazo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management from New Mexico State University.
