Volvik staff player Tim Petrovic shot a five under par 67 Sunday to move up 18 spots in the final round at the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open Sunday, earning a shot at a PGA TOUR victory in a 5-man playoff and an eventual T2 finish.
Petrovic played a Yellow Volvik S3 95-compression golf ball, the Golf Digest Hot List awarded ball that tested to have the best combination of lowest driver spin and highest wedge spin in their annual spin chart that includes all Hot List golf ball winners.
Petrovic moved up 65 spots in the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup standings with his runner-up finish after shooting the low score for the weekend at Trump International in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Petrovic started the final round birdie-birdie-eagle to move into contention. He birdied 18 to go into the clubhouse at seven under par and qualify for the playoff. The runner-up finish was his first runner-up on the PGA TOUR since the Fry’s.com Open in 2012. Last season, Petrovic held the 36-hole lead at the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA TOUR, providing Volvik USA with their highest website traffic to Volvik.com since the company launched in January 2013.
After his 2nd place finish, Petrovic has earned $216,475 on the PGA TOUR this season. Petrovic, a 13-year tour veteran, will play at this week’s Valspar Championship after his 2nd place finish earned him a spot in the field. Petrovic fired a 63 to earn medalist honors at a Monday qualifier for the Honda Classic two weeks ago.
Petrovic has earned over $12 million in career earnings on the PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour including one PGA TOUR victory, 12 Top 3 finishes, 35 Top 10 finishes and 105 Top 25 finishes. Petrovic won the 2005 Zurich Classic of New Orleans on the PGA TOUR.
