Money raised from the event will benefit hospital programs and services
Belleville, NJ – Former New York Giant and current “NFL on FOX” Game Analyst David Diehl is joining Clara Maass Medical Center for the hospital’s 2015 Golf Invitational to be held at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange on Monday, May 11.
The newly named Clara Maass Medical Center “2015 Golf Invitational Featuring Former New York Giant David Diehl and Friends” will benefit hospital services at Clara Maass Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, which serves communities in Essex, Hudson and Bergen counties.
“We are thrilled that David has teamed up with Clara Maass Medical Center for our annual golf invitational,” said Mary Ellen Clyne, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer. “As a Super Bowl Champion and national television game analyst, David brings prestige that will generate greater awareness for our golf outing, enhancing our fundraising efforts to support programs and services at Clara Maass Medical Center that benefit the residents and families of the communities we serve.”
Several of Diehl’s former New York Giant teammates, other NFL players and celebrities will also participate in the event. The Golf Invitational includes opportunities to enjoy 18 holes of golf, an afternoon of tennis or to attend a cocktail reception, dinner and awards ceremony. The Invitational features six “Hole-in-One” cars from Lexus of Route 10 and Maserati of Morris County, a putting contest and a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia and other unique experiences.
“I’m honored to join Clara Maass Medical Center and help promote healthy living by collaborating to enhance the 2015 Golf Invitational,” said Diehl. “By supporting Clara Maass Medical Center, a premier health care resource for so many families, I know our efforts will have a positive impact. I encourage businesses and individuals to join us for what will be an exciting and memorable day.”
Diehl spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the New York Giants. As a Giant, he started on two Super Bowl Championship teams – in 2008 and 2012 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2009. He started the first 120 regular-season games and seven post-season games of his career, the longest streak of its kind by a Giant since the introduction of the 16-game schedule in 1978. In 2012, David was also the recipient of the prestigious Wellington Mara NFL Man of the Year Award.
Diehl, who resides in Essex County, currently serves as an ambassador for healthy living for Barnabas Health enabling him to impact the lives of residents throughout New Jersey. For the last two years, Diehl has been a spokesperson for the Matthew J. Morahan, III Health Assessment Center for Athletes for which he helps raise awareness about concussions and returning to play and discusses the importance of screenings with young athletes.
