Orlando, Fla. (April 28, 2015) – Henry Brunton, one of the founding instructors of the newly formed Golf Channel Academy, is establishing a new location at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine, Calif., that is scheduled to open in early May.
Located roughly a half mile west of Interstate 405 (University Avenue exit), the Irvine Golf Channel Academy is housed in a dedicated building at Strawberry Farms Golf Club, which allows for an exceptional learning environment.
“This will be a high performance academy for elite junior golfers, as well as the serious adult golfer who wants long-term coaching,” Brunton said. This academy will also feature world class club fitting using TrackMan and Titleist ProV1 and ProV1X balls.
Originally from Canada, Brunton is one of the game’s most influential and recognizable teachers. In addition to being a three-time national award winner – 2014 Coach of the Year, 2009 Junior Leader of the Year, 2013 Professional Development and Education – he is the only Canadian recognized as a US Kids Golf Master Kids Teacher and the lone Canadian to be a recipient of the 5-Star Professional Award, the PGA of Europe’s highest honor.
Brunton was the first Canadian among the inaugural group of that established a dedicated network of instructors with the active support of Golf Channel, the game’s leading global multimedia and golf entertainment source.
Golf Channel Academy is the first network of its kind devoted to efficiently growing the business of golf instruction. Launched the first week of April with more than 40 charter locations, Golf Channel Academy will be inviting additional coaches to become part of the network.
Golf Channel Academy programs in Irvine will feature Brunton and fellow teaching professionals Blake Jirges and Gavin Witzer, who together will focus on junior coaching programs and custom club fitting that includes video and TrackMan analysis.
C0aches with Golf Channel Academy will benefit from a wide-spectrum of business consulting services and products addressing marketing, sales, technology and back-office solutions needs, as well as shared best practices across the network. Coaches also will have the opportunity to appear on instructional programming across Golf Channel’s television and digital platforms. Students at Golf Channel Academy locations will be able to track their progress using advanced software to measure specific goals under the direction of their personal coach.

Brunton, who also operates Henry Brunton Golf at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Canada, is the lone Canadian on the GOLF Magazine list of “Top 100 Instructors in America.” A member of the PGA of Canada since 1984, Brunton was named a Master Professional by the organization in 2008. And he created the Teaching and Certification Program for the PGA of Canada, a mandatory training program for all PGA of Canada teaching professionals.
An accomplished speaker and consultant, Brunton is a world leader in the development of aspiring high-level junior and collegiate golfers. He is the author of two books-Journey to Excellence: The Young Golfer’s Complete Guide to Achievement and Personal Growth (2009), and High Performance Golf (2012).
