Volvik was a part of a victory at the North Texas PGA Section National Car Rental Pro-Scratch Championship Tuesday in Dallas.
Thomas Devanna, PGA assistant professional at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, Texas and his amateur partner Ryan Grider, the highest ranked 2017 graduate in Texas, shot rounds of 61 and 67 to capture the National Car Rental Pro-Scratch Championship Tuesday. Devanna played Volvik’s S3 95-compression golf ball in the victory. Sixteen PGA professionals played the S3 golf ball in the event.
“This ball is really good!” said Devanna of the Volvik S3 golf ball he won with. “It had exceptional feel around the greens with no loss in distance off the tee.”
Playing through rain and cold temperatures in the final round, Devanna and Grider notched one eagle, four birdies and two bogeys, building a sizable lead. Devanna and Grider finished with a two round total of 14-under par, 128, winning by two strokes. Devanna and Grider took home $1,500 for their first place victory.
The Four-Ball Stroke Play Northern Texas PGA major championship featured a field of 82 teams comprised of one PGA professional teamed with one scratch amateur competing at Northwood Club, a par 71, 6,926-yard facility located in Dallas. Teams competed for a share of the $24,000 purse.
The National Car Rental Pro-Scratch Championship was presented by Volvik, Adventures in Golf, AHEAD, AT&T Byron Nelson, IMAVEX, Local Allstate Agent Brian Mahon and Mizuno USA.
