In an effort to help all golfers stay injury free while training and improving their overall fitness, one of Amazon’s best sellers outlines stretching and recovery guidelines.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — According to Christian Henning, author of Golf Fitness: Core to Score, training and fitness is key to becoming a better golfer, but stresses that stretching and recovery is equally important.
“The cornerstone of reducing injuries, adding distance and consistency is to increase joint mobility and range of motion, said Henning. “Without an increased range of motion, you will not be as good as you can be. Simply, you will be limited. By limited, I mean you won’t be able to fully hit each position for your golf swing. I don’t care what swing you use, you won’t be able to get in the proper slots if your mobility is limited.”
Henning explained that Golf Fitness: Core to Score empowers golfers with the key to unlocking more power and core golf training. It also provides golfers with a proven way to shed pounds to shave strokes.
“To increase your range of motion, it is vital we perform certain movement’s daily – even on off days,” Henning said. “These movements do not take very long and will help the body to recover and thus add valuable yards to your game.”
For most, Henning noted, the word recovery means to take a day off and rest.
“We do not adhere to this definition when speaking of joint mobility,” Henning said. “Basically, if you don’t use it, you will lose it. Being active actually helps our joints become more mobile.”
Henning went on to point out that Strategic Recovery performed on off days will prime golfers’ body for gains every single day.
“Perform joint mobility and dynamic warm-ups each morning when you wake up if you are not working out,” Henning stressed, before adding, “This ensures your body stays loose and pliable and gets you ready for the day.”
On off days, he said, perform the stretch and recovery program.
“Stretching and recovery is part of maintaining your body and increasing your range of motion,” Henning said. “An increased range of motion will result in higher club-head speed and the ability for more distance. In addition, the stretching and recovery exercises will help you get your body back in alignment and allow you a proper swing path.”
