John Wright of Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa named Golf Professional of the Year; Scott Corwin of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club named Golf Grounds Manager of the Year; Marco Island Marriott Golf Resort named Golf Property of the Year
ORLANDO, Fla., May 11, 2015…Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, today announced its annual awards for golf excellence across the Company’s portfolio of properties, including Golf Professional of the Year, Golf Grounds Manager of the Year and Golf Property of the Year.
Highlighting the annual awards, Marriott Golf has named John Wright, PGA Director of Golf at Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, Golf Professional of the Year. The award recognizes an individual who consistently performs and exceeds in areas of sales and profit; supplier program compliance; rounds improvement; leadership in personnel development; innovative program development; affinity programs; earning industry and Marriott Golf awards. Consideration for the prestigious award is based on performance excellence for current and previous years.
Marriott Golf has also announced that Scott Corwin, Director of Grounds at Vinoy Golf Club, located at the Vinoy® Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Fla., has been named Golf Grounds Manager of the Year. Criteria for the award are based on overall turf grass condition of the golf course throughout the year, loss prevention efforts, personnel development, operating within budget, efforts in continuing education with active pursuit of certification from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and more.
Rounding out the annual awards, Marriott Golf has announced that the Marco Island Marriott Golf Resort in Marco Island, Fla., has been named Golf Property of the Year. Criteria for the award are based on performance excellence for current and previous years in various categories including golf sales, round improvements, customer satisfaction, program development, personnel development & leadership and more.
