ORLANDO, Fla. (May 21, 2015) – Registration is now open for the 2015 Golfweek Architecture Summit, which will celebrate the course design achievements of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Set for Nov. 15-17 at We-Ko-Pa Resort & Conference Center in Fountain Hills, Arizona, this three-day event gives attendees the opportunity to discuss and experience the mastery of this iconic golf architecture duo.
“The Golfweek Architecture Summit’s purpose is to honor the lifework of notable golf course architects,” said Bradley S. Klein, Golfweek senior writer and golf architecture expert. “In the past, we’ve recognized Donald Ross and Pete and Alice Dye, and we’re proud to be turning our attention this year to Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who have transformed the American and world golf scenes over the last 30 years.”
Coore and Crenshaw made their mark most powerfully with their naturalistic, scratched-out-of-the-ground design of Sand Hills Golf Club in Mullen, Nebraska. After opening to rave reviews, Sand Hills claimed the No. 1 position on the inaugural Golfweek’s Best Modern Courses list in 1997 and has remained there ever since. While best known for their work in the United States, the pair has also made an impact globally with renowned courses in Australia and Asia and a much-anticipated upcoming project in Canada.
Attendees of the 2015 Golfweek Architecture Summit will be able to enjoy Coore and Crenshaw’s design work firsthand on two of the team’s Phoenix-area courses, Talking Stick Golf Club’s North Course in Scottsdale and We-Ko-Pa Golf Club’s Saguaro Course in Fountain Hills. Additionally, guests will hear directly from Coore and Crenshaw, as well as a host of other keynote speakers, including successful owners/developers from courses across North America that feature designs by the event’s headliners.
