Par-3 16th voted state’s ‘Best’ and ‘Most Beautiful’ golf hole
(BOERNE, Texas) – Cordillera Ranch – the premier luxury community in the scenic Texas Hill Country – announces its Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course remained in the top-5 in the Dallas Morning News’s 2015 ranking of the state’s best layouts.
Since opening in 2007, Cordillera Ranch has been annually rated among the top five layouts in the Lone Star State. Once again, it was the top course in the Hill Country / San Antonio / Austin region.
Its par-3 16th hole also was listed among the state’s “Best” and “Most Beautiful” golf holes. Playing 172 yards from the championship tees (131 yards from the member’s tees), it features a limestone gorge with natural waterfalls fronting a small putting surface carved out of a hill. Bunkers front and back protect the green.
Nearly 100 panelists from across Texas – PGA professionals, high-ranking amateurs, golf-design experts, golf journalists and other industry heavyweights – evaluated all 800-plus courses using criteria such as shotmaking, versatility, design, memorability, beauty, maintenance and enjoyment.
“The Dallas Morning News rankings are highly respected in the Texas golf scene, and we are honored the panel once again placed us in the overall top-5,” says Marc DeWall, Director of Golf at Cordillera Ranch. “Our staff does a remarkable job of upholding Cordillera Ranch’s standards, which makes it one of the country’s best places to live and play.”
Set on pristine land in the Texas Hill Country, the Cordillera Ranch layout meanders through valleys and oak-covered terrain. Many holes offer views of the Guadalupe River Valley and feature strategic bunkering, craggy limestone canyons and thought-provoking risk-reward shots.
The top-5 showing in the Morning News rankings is the latest accolade for the Nicklaus Signature layout. Earlier this year, the San Antonio Business Journal tabbed Cordillera Ranch as the top golf course in the Alamo City. In 2014, the National Golf Course Owners Association bestowed its “Course of the Year” honor on Cordillera Ranch.
Yet, Cordillera Ranch is more than just a golf community, as it features seven resort-style clubs. The Golf Club is joined by The Social Club, The Tennis and Swim Club, The Equestrian Club, The Rod and Gun Club, The Spa and Athletic Club and The River Club.
Perched high atop one of the many breathtaking hills found in the community, the 40,000 square-foot clubhouse is the social heart of the property, and features member dining facilities, a full fitness center, in-house spa, locker rooms, special event rooms, member lounge, four outdoor pools and golf shop.
The highest-rated residential community course in Texas has also seen two dozen homes sold in the first five months of 2015, a 71 percent increase from the same period in 2014. Currently, 40 homes are under construction, and an additional 25 are in architectural design review. This past April, Cordillera Ranch Development Company broke ground on a luxurious Benedira floorplan villa that fronts the third hole in the coveted Di Lusso II gated enclave.
