(BOERNE, Texas) – Cordillera Ranch – the premier luxury community in the scenic Hill Country – has been named one of the “50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.” by Where to Retire Magazine.
Profiled and listed in alphabetical order by state, Cordillera Ranch was one of three Texas properties included on the list in the magazine’s July/August issue.
“‘Baby Boomers’ seek active lifestyles spanning myriad of activities, sports and outdoor pursuits, and Cordillera Ranch meets their interests and needs,” says Charlie Hill, Vice President of Development at Cordillera Ranch. “Our seven clubs, variety of homes and lots, low taxes and quality of life are perfect for any stage of retirement. It’s an incredible honor to be recognized as one of the best master-planned communities in the country by Where to Retire magazine.”
Selection criteria included lifestyle offerings, housing options, price points and architectural styles. Candidates needed a minimum of 400 homes at build-out and at least a year supply of new homes or lots. In addition, communities must have homes already constructed and lived-in, with “phase one facilities” such as clubhouses, recreational facilities or a golf course in place.
Where to Retire, distributed to 200,000 readers nationally, presented Cordillera Ranch with a commemorative plaque and a letter from its publisher, Karen Northridge.
“The beauty at Cordillera Ranch, both inside and outside the community, played a major part in its recognition as one of our 50 best,” says Annette Fuller, Editor at Where to Retire Magazine. “The Guadalupe River runs through its heart, and trees and rolling hills lure you into this Hill Country haven. The Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course both challenges and calms. San Antonio is just 30 miles south, and exceptional shops, restaurants and schools in the bucolic town of Boerne are close by.”
Since its inception in 1997, approximately 700 homes have been completed (with more than 1,200 lot sales) in the 8,700-acre Cordillera Ranch community. At final build-out, this low-density Hill Country community will total approximately 2,500 homes and preserve approximately 80 percent of the land in its natural vegetation.
The distinguished community has seen two dozen homes sold in the first five months of 2015, a 71 percent increase from the same period in 2014. Currently, 40 homes are under construction, and an additional 25 are in architectural design review. This past April, Cordillera Ranch Development Company broke ground on a luxurious Benedira floorplan villa that fronts the third hole in the coveted Di Lusso II gated enclave.
Cordillera Ranch also boasts seven resort-style amenity clubs (in one membership) – Golf, Tennis and Swim, Spa and Athletic, Social, Rod and Gun, Equestrian and River – that attract a wide array of buyers throughout Texas and nationally. In addition, the 40,000 square-foot clubhouse – high atop one of the many breathtaking hills found in the community – is the social heart of the property, and features member dining facilities, a full fitness center, in-house spa, locker rooms, special event rooms, member lounge, four outdoor pools and golf shop.

And then there’s San Antonio – recently ranked 10th in the Milken Institute’s “Best Performing Cities” list, which evaluates small and large cities by tracking job growth, wage and salary growth, and the size and concentration of high tech industry. Also, the U.S. Census Bureau recently tabbed Boerne as one of the fastest-growing areas in the country.
