Video: Don’t Be a Golf Dinosaur: Velociraptor
ORLANDO, Fla. (June 18, 2015) – Although golfers embrace high-tech equipment that can help lower their scores, they are still living in the Stone Age by not embracing technology that makes it easier to book their next round, according to research by the National Golf Foundation.
The world’s leading online tee-time booking service, GolfNow, is showcasing this dynamic with its latest advertising campaign launching today, “Don’t Be a Golf Dinosaur,” which encourages golfers to evolve to a more convenient way to book a round of golf. This national campaign will be featured across Golf Channel, including this week’s Golf Central’s Live From the U.S. Open and Morning Drive, as well as placements leveraging NBCUniversal’s portfolio of television and digital assets.
These creative commercials depict a golfer unsuccessfully trying to book a tee time by telephone. Frustrated by the inability to play the game he loves, the golfer transforms into a “golf dinosaur.” Promoting the ease of booking online with a choice of thousands of golf courses, the announcer tags the spots by telling golfers to “Go Play,” GolfNow’s longstanding motto to encourage golfers to play more golf. All three spots, titled “T-Rex,” “Velociraptor” and “Brontosaurus,” will be available on GolfNow’s YouTube page. The “Don’t Be a Golf Dinosaur: Velociraptor” spot is available for viewing here.
A 2014 study by the National Golf Foundation showed that awareness of GolfNow among surveyed core golfers is 84 percent. The research also confirmed that GolfNow users are more likely to play more golf because they can book online.
“Whether booking on GolfNow or directly on our course partners’ websites, our users play more because of the convenience of booking online,” said Jeff Foster, Senior Vice President, New Media, GolfNow. “They can still use the phone, but the simplicity and convenience of booking online makes it easier for them to book anytime, 24 hours a day, without the wait.”
NGF research also states that golfers surveyed agree with the main benefits of booking tee times via GolfNow, including:
• Access to greens fees and golf courses that meet price expectations
• Ability to book outside of normal business hours with 24/7 access
• Credible information on golf courses, design and features
The “Don’t be a Golf Dinosaur” commercials were created by barrettSF, a San Francisco-based advertising agency.
