Live Ball Tracking Technology, FlightScope Tracer, Featured At U.S. Open

Instant ball and club data enhanced live broadcasting at premier golfing event

ORLANDO, Fla. – June 26, 2015 – FlightScope, a world leader in the development and manufacturing of sports technology, today announces the use of its cutting edge FlightScope Tracer at the 2015 U.S. Open last week. A new broadcast technology for real-time 3D ball tracking and display on live video, the FlightScope Tracer uses a combination of camera and radar technology to supply real time data of the club swing and entire ball flight.

“We are thrilled with the positive response from golfers, industry figures and at home watchers as we introduced the FlightScope Tracer technology for the first time at the U.S. Open,” said Henri Johnson, founder and CEO of FlightScope. “At FlightScope our goal is to always be at the forefront of the sports technology industry, and our newest tracking technology revolutionized how the game was watched at this year’s event.”

The FlightScope Tracer provides instant access to 27 different data parameters and is not dependent on capturing the ball on video. Unlike other 2D video tracing technologies – that may lose the view of the ball after 200 yards – FlightScope Tracer measures entire 3D trajectory in any weather or light conditions, even in direct sunlight or total darkness. FlightScope’s system provides an infinitely more realistic and accurate method for tracing a ball on a live video feed because it is not just tracing, its actually measuring and tracking too.

The tracking technology was located on stationary tees throughout the course as well as portable camera towers to cover numerous positions and also capture fairway shots.

“Our technology is able to give devoted at home viewers a deeper and instantaneous look into the ball and swing data from the world’s most skilled golfers as they move through the course,” stated Johnson.

The FlightScope Tracer will also be in use at the U.S. Senior Open this week.

In addition to golf, the FlightScope Tracer will soon be available for baseball, tennis, and cricket. To find out more about FlightScope Tracer, visit http://flightscope.com/products/tracer/.
