On July 29, 2015 the USGA has organized their second annual nationwide event to encourage golfers to celebrate and enjoy the convenience of a 9-hole round. Their goal is to emphasize the reduced time commitment, decreased cost versus an 18-hole round, and the benefit of providing a friendlier platform for newcomers to the sport.
The PLAY9 Day is also being used as an education tool in order to remind golfers that 9-hole scores are qualified to be entered into the USGA’s Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN®) and are recognized for handicap purposes.
