Rianna Quiogue (Hanover Park) David Hicks (Middle Township) Nicole Eager (South Plainfield) and Brad Demitus (Colonia) Awarded $2,500 Annual Scholarships
PISCATAWAY, N.J., July 10, 2015…The New Jersey Golf Foundation (NJGF), the charitable arm of the New Jersey Section, PGA of America (NJPGA), announced the recipients of the prestigious Peter A. Famiano Memorial Scholarship. Junior golfers Rianna Quiogue of Hanover Park, David Hicks of Middle Township, Nicole Eager of South Plainfield and Brad Demitus of Colonia were awarded Scholarships and honored at the 7th Annual New Jersey Golf Foundation Peter A. Famiano Memorial Pro-Am on July 2, 2015, at Crestmont Country Club, in West Orange, N.J.
Peter Famiano was the Head Golf Professional at Crestmont Country Club for over 35 years. In honor of Peter, the NJGF created the Peter A. Famiano Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes worthy New Jersey junior golfers for their professionalism, integrity, volunteerism, and willingness to help others. It is a $2,500 annual scholarship that is open to college students of any class year, provided they continue to meet the standards set forth by the Scholarship Committee. The NJGF Scholarship Committee reviews all applications using the following criteria: scholarship achievement, qualities of character and leadership, financial need, volunteer history and future in golf.
“The 2015 Peter A. Famiano Memorial Scholarship recipients have distinguished themselves on the golf course, and more importantly, as well respected young men and women within their communities,” said Chris Hunt, Executive Director, New Jersey Golf Foundation. “Peter Famiano was always committed to helping others, and it’s rewarding for us to support the continuing education of these deserving individuals in Peter’s honor.”
Scholarship Recipients:
Rianna Quiogue graduated in 2015 from Hanover Park High School where she was involved in many activities including varsity golf as well as lettering in soccer and track and continuing to be an AP scholar. Rianna also spent a great deal of time volunteering in town with community organizations. She will be attending Union College (NY) as part of the class of 2019 majoring in Computer Science.
David Hicks graduated in 2015 from Middle Township High School. David was the Valedictorian of his class. He was also a part of the Optimist International Hugh Cranford Scholastic Team, NJ SIAA Scholar Athlete-MTHS and Captain of both the Golf and Soccer team. David will be attending the College of William and Mary as part of the class of 2019 majoring in Government/Finance.
Nicole Eager graduated in 2015 from South Plainfield High School. Nicole was the Greater Middlesex County Girl’s Golf Champion. Nicole has also spent a great deal of her time volunteering for the First Tee Program in Newark. She will be attending Johnson and Wales University as part of the class of 2019 majoring in Sports Entertainment/Event Planning.
Brendan Demitus graduated in 2015 from Colonia High School where he was not only a top ranking student but also captain of his golf team and two year all-division player. In his senior year he earned all-conference honors. Brendan will be attending Fairleigh Dickinson University as part of the class of 2019 majoring in Doctor of Pharmacy.
