NEWPORT BEACH, CA, July 15… Go Play Golf, Inc., providers of the industry’s first and only national golf gift card, has engaged PGA of America member, Don Rea, Jr., to help drive the company’s relationship with fellow PGA members. In addition to his position as Vice President of Golf Course Operations, Rea is also a partner/investor of Go Play Golf.
Rea, a recent past president of the Southwest Section PGA and a leader in the PGA, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Go Play Golf. In addition to his position at the company, he is currently the Chair of the Advisory Council for the NGCOA Arizona Chapter and is the owner/operator of Augusta Ranch Golf Club in Mesa, AZ.
“The purpose behind Go Play Golf gift cards is to drive dollars into the market that are not currently there and to work hand in hand with PGA members to help consumers use those dollars in a meaningful and impactful way,” said Loralei Abels, Founder, Go Play Golf, Inc. “As a PGA member, Don knows the unique challenges facing PGA members today and their challenges in growing the game of golf. We are pleased to have him on our team and we’re positive that he is going to be a major contributor to the growth of our company.”
Statistics have shown that Go Play Golf gift cards are primarily purchased by non-golfing women and given to men who golf. This creates a new segment of purchasing power in the industry, which in turn drives new business to golf courses. To date, Go Play Golf has driven business to more than 2600 golf courses nationwide.
“I am excited to be a part of the Go Play Golf team and to begin building a network of golf courses and PGA professionals that will begin receiving revenue from this untapped source,” said Rea. “One immediate area for growth that I see is working with PGA teaching professionals to accept Go Play Golf gift cards for lessons, because as we know, players that play better, play more. This is a cost-free way for them to grow their teaching business by attracting non-golfers who are buying gifts for golfers.”
In addition to his role as president of the Southwest Section PGA, Rea has held various other positions within the organization during the past ten years. He has also served on the boards of the Mesa Arizona Convention and Visitors Bureau and Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association; owned golf consulting companies; and been the general manager of the Golf Club at Eagle Mountain in Fountain Hills, AZ.
