PGA Junior Golf Camps reporting higher camp enrollments on a national basis
Sacramento, CA (July 14, 2015) – More and more girls are making their way to the golf course this summer at PGA Junior Golf Camps across the country. While golf camps typically experience a male to female campers ratio of approximately 10:1, the PGA Junior Golf Camps is reporting a 4:1 ratio at several camps around the country. According to national industry reports, the ratio of male to female junior golfers is 5:1.
The uptick in female campers is a welcome shift for those running the PGA Junior Golf Camps. “With more girls hitting golf courses with their moms, dads, and other family members – the trend translates to more girls enrolled in our camps. As recently as 10 years ago, girls did not have any meaningful ‘representation’ at golf camps but we are definitely seeing more girls enrolled in our camps this summer. This reflects what is happening in the industry as a whole. We think it is a great thing for the girls themselves and for the game in general” said Marc Haddad, Founder of the PGA Junior Golf Camps.
The camps’ curriculum is based upon its “PGA Progression Development Tract” which guarantees skill development in the game’s fundamental areas including full swing, putting and chipping. Additionally, the tract also places emphasis on the development of “life skills” such as good sportsmanship and embodying personal integrity both on and off the course. The camps, which have been recognized by USA Today as a “Top 10” camp for kids, are led by PGA Professionals and open to boys and girls between the ages of 6-17 and of all ability levels. Both full and half day camps are offered at 25+ locations across the country.
“We are thrilled with the number of girls we have out at the camps this summer. The great thing is that golf provides girls and boys with the opportunity to be active, social, and learn some of the life skills which will serve them well both on and off the course. Having the opportunity to impact young golfers by providing quality instruction, in a safe and supportive environment, is pretty special for us,” said Ted Eleftheriou, Director of Golf Program Development for PGA of America.
Camp pricing starts at $165 and multi-week and sibling incentives are available. For additional information or to register for summer camps, visit www.pgajuniorgolfcamps.com or call 888.PGA.PLAY (888.742.7529).
